ALT (Assistant Language Teacher)

See the sights of Japan and experience the wonders of the ancient and modern Japanese culture while working hand-in-hand with Japanese teachers in the public education system. 

JOYTALK is now accepting applications for energetic and enthusiastic native English speakers to work as ALTs in Japanese public junior high schools, elementary schools and kindergartens in the Kanto and Tohoku regions which cover eastern Japan.

These positions will start from August / September, 2010.

Applicants should be native speakers of English, have a university degree, be willing to commit to at least a seven month contract, enjoy working with children, have an interest in Japanese language and culture and be a team player.

Applicants would also be highly regarded if they hold education qualifications or teaching certificates and /or have previous teaching experience and / or have conversational level Japanese skills, although these are not mandatory requirements. A driver's license valid for use in Japan would also be an advantage.

Joytalk has been recruiting foreign staff for more than 27 years.  We pride ourselves on providing quality and personal assistance to our foreign language staff.  We provide visa sponsorship, paid holidays, discounted car rental, rental accommodation, reimbursement for work transportation costs and 24 hour support and assistance in other areas where needed.  We also provide on-going teacher training with workshops held a number of times throughout the year including before the start of the teaching assignment.

The positions are Monday to Friday with work hours varying between 6 and 8 hours daily depending on the location.  No night or holiday work required although this may be available for those looking for extra work.

The salary may vary depending on the specific conditions of each contract and will range between 200,000 and 250,000 yen per month..

We support our teachers not only in teaching, but in all aspects of life in Japan.  We will assist you prior to your arrival, we will be there to help you setup once you arrive and help with any problems, negotiations, accidents, emergencies, etc, throughout your stay.
